We are affected by the homeless crisis whether we like it or not. One of the main causes of homelessness is mental illness and there is not enough awareness about this. Do better by educating those around you and strive to make our community better.

My name is Harneel and I live in the Bay Area. I love going to San Francisco, it’s an amazing city, but it also has a big homelessness problem. You can’t go a block without seeing a homeless person. I’ve seen people digging for food through trash cans and urinating on the sidewalk. It’s sad to see and a lot of homeless people suffer from mental illness and addiction. I’m sure there have been efforts to try and solve this problem, but there is a lack of resources and most people don’t even realize that mental illness is one of the main causes. There is not enough awareness on mental health and that needs to change.
